Its
not about you. You were made by God and for God. Life is about
letting God use you for His purposes. Do you know God's purpose
for your life? Do you understand how all the pieces of your life
fit together? Have you become what God created you to be? God
made you for a reason and your life has profound meaning. Nothing
matters more than knowing God's purposes for your life, and nothing
can compensate for not knowing them. There are eternal consequences
to what you do with your life. Major changes, delayed promises,
impossible problems, unanswered prayers, underserved criticism,
and even senseless tragedies will test you.
Our time on earth, our energy, intelligence, opportunities, relationships,
resources and prayer are all gifts from God that he has entrusted
to our care and management. Ask God to help you see life on earth
as He sees it. It's all for Him. When we fulfill our purpose,
it brings glory to God. Life is for His glory. To worship God
is to bring Him glory. Worship is a lifestyle of enjoying God,
loving Him, and giving ourselves to be used for His purposes.
He wants us to grow to spiritual maturity (becoming like Jesus
in the way we think, feel, and act). The more you develop Christ-like
character, the more you bring glory to God. We bring glory to
God by using our talents, gifts, skills, and abilities to serve
others and help them to know Him.
Living your life for the glory of God will require you to change
your priorities, your schedule, your relationships, and everything
else in obedience to His will. Do whatever God asks without reservation
or hesitation. Obedience will teach you more about God that anything
else. You were made to live in God's continual presence. God wants
to be included in every activity, every conversation, every problem,
and even every thought. The more time you spend reviewing what
God has said, the more you will understand the 'secrets' of this
life that most people miss. You are as close to God as you chose
to be. Ask God to give you a passion for Him. Don't miss the most
important thing in life-knowing God. Give God your time. Give
God yourself. The more you become God's friend, the more you will
care about the things he cares about, grieve over the things he
grieves over, and rejoice over the things that bring pleasure
to Him. Adopt the way God thinks-about yourself, sin, God, other
people, life, you future, and everything else. Take on Christ's
outlook and perspective. Be like Jesus. Every day God wants you
to become a little more like Him.
Life is not about you. Prayer is not about you. Prayer was made
by God and for God. Begin each day with God. Ask God for wisdom.
Ask God to direct your steps. Prayer has a purpose in bringing
about God's will in the world. Prayer is the key to knowing and
accomplishing God's purposes for your life, the church, the world,
eternity. There are eternal consequences to your prayers. Will
you persevere in prayer? Prayer is for God's glory. Look for God
in all of life, every event, every day. Pray that His will be
done in your life. Pray for a passion and commitment to God. Live
for the glory of God. Pray for the glory of God. The smile of
God is the goal of your life. God is with you all the time; no
place is any closer to God than the place you are right now. Enter
into His presence with thanksgiving and His courts with praise.
Continue praying throughout the day about all the things you see
going on around you.
Life's events are reminders of who God is, His promises, and His
will for the world-reminders to pray. God always acts in your
best interest, even when it is painful and you don't understand
it. Every time you trust God's wisdom and do whatever he says,
even when you don't understand it, you deepen your friendship
with God. Serious reflection on God's truth is a key to answered
prayer and the secret to successful living. It is during suffering
that we learn to pray our most authentic, heartfelt, honest-to-God
prayers. Problems force us to look to God and depend on Him instead
of ourselves. Let us have confidence, then, and approach God's
throne, where there is grace. There we will receive mercy and
find grace to help us just when we need it.
A purpose driven life is nourished by purpose driven prayer--prayer
that seeks God's glory, the reign of God in our lives and God's
will to be done on earth just as it is in heaven. I pray that
God will be glorified in our lives and in His church, both now
and forever.
